About Tom Sharkey

Tom Sharkey is a partially sighted Irish artist living and working in Dublin, Ireland. He graduated from Whitehall College obtaining distinctions in all subjects and awarded class Student of the year.

His work with each diorama involves creating each piece by hand to painting each piece and finally making each individual .

is imbued with depth and colour harmony so often felt in those quiet secluded places that allow your imagination to wander, to remember quieter times and places.

Tom also works with acrylics and dabbles in oil every now and again but enjoys the freedom that acrylics bring to his style of painting.

From the artist

“My work mostly comes from my imagination but I constantly draw reference to times I spent travelling around the country, seeing the amazing architecture of buildings and houses and village scenes or memories of my younger days hiking and camping around Wicklow where we lived off burnt sausages and tins of diced fruit; armed with a few pencils and a sketchbook.

My style is rooted in my appreciation of the natural landscape and through my dioramas and paintings of landscapes, I have the pleasure of sitting in my studio, playing with colour, light and shade to create an piece that constantly evolves even to the last touch”
